I-Movie is a software that you upload videos that you made and importing your video onto it. Then iMovie helps you organize your video just as you organize photos: by putting everything in one central location and grouping video clips according the date they were taken. So it’s easy to find the clips you’re looking for — whether to watch or to edit.
This is a clip of a scene from our opening sequence experimenting the special effects. This is an 'Earthquake' effect and the meaning created by this is that it could give the meaning of anxiety and something bad happening.
This is another clip of a scene from our opening sequence experimenting the effect of 'Fog'. The meaning behind this effect is that it could show its a dream of some sort.
This is a screenshot of the experiment and this shows what i have learnt about I-Movie becuase it shows to me that i can use as many effects as i like to portray a meaning behind the clips. It also shows what i have learnt about I-Movie becuase i used different effects for the opening sequence and used I-Movie to create these special effects.
This is another screenshot of the experiment to show the earthquake effect and shows what i have learnt about I-movie becuase it tells me that i can use various effects to potray a meaning behind the opening sequence.

The audiences completed our audience survey and their responses were positive. They liked the opening sequence with the variety of shots, especially the 360 tracking shot. They also said that the ending was very unexpected which built suspense for them. This helped us to develop our ideas becuase we used these responses as a guidance in knowing what idea we should include and it helped us in knowing what audiences liked the most and what one they prefer to watch. It would also help us know who are target audience is and what they look for in a thriller film.

Who would be your audience for your media product?
The age rating that would work for our film is 15. This is because it contains images such as blood and a dead body, that would scare children.
This is a screenshot of one of the scenes in our opening sequence and it is an image of a dead body and contains an image of blood which shows that it would be aimed at audiences from 15 and onwards.
A thriller film that is rated 15 is 'The Shining'.
This thriller film is aimed at an audience that i would like to attract of 15 and above is becuase it is similar to our opening sequence as it includes images of blood and would scare children of a young age this shows that it is clear to the audience it is relevant for being a 15.
Another thriller film that is rated a 15 is The 'Sixth Sense'(1999).
This thriller film is aimed at an audience of 15 that i would like to attract is becuase it is a dark film and contains scary images this would be for an audience of 15 and above as from that age they would be mature and understanding.
Synopsis of the Film 'The Shining'.
Jack is a recovering alcoholic that takes a job as a caretaker for a resort/hotel that shuts down every year for the winter. His son, Danny, has a kind of sixth sense and can "hear" other peoples' thoughts as well as converse with them. He is also able to see bad things from the past. Jack gets cabin fever and goes mad. Tragedy ensues.
This compares to our film ideas becuase one of our ideas was 'psycho' and this thriller compares becuase its about a man who is a complete maniac and our idea is about a similar image.
Synopsis of 'The Sixth Sense'
In this tense tale of psychological terror, Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is a child psychologist whose new patient has a problem far outside his usual area of expertise. Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) is six-years-old and claims to see the spirits of dead people all around him. It seems that Cole has psychic powers and can channel the ghosts of those who were troubled. Cole doesn't understand his powers, and he has little control over them; he's constantly terrified by what he sees, and Dr. Crowe is the only one with whom he feels he can share this secret. However, as the doctor digs deeper into Cole's strange powers, it leads to strange and unexpected consequences for both of them.
This compares to one of our film ideas of 'psychological'. This is becuase its about a childs mind and how he sees strange things and supernatural beings. It plays with the childs mind. This reflects on our idea becuase it demonstrates 'psycholigcal'.
Typical Target Audience Member
This person is an image of a teenager ages 15-17 that would enjoy our film. The reason this is her age is becuase she looks young and mature.Their interests would be to go to the cinemas often. She seems to dress like a casual girl. The reason why they would be the type of person to like our film because she is young and her age matches the age rating so it would be suitable for her also becuase teenagers like the feeling of thrills and excitement.

What Kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The three Thriller films are; When a Stranger calls, The Babysitter and The Dark Knight. The two films that are similar to our opening sequence is When a stranger Calls and The Babysitter. The Film that differs from our opening sequence is The Dark knight. The Distribution company who distributed The Babysitter is Spelling Entertainment. The Company who distributed When a Stranger calls is Columbia Pictures. The Distribution company who distributed The Dark Knight is Warner Bros. Pictures.
The Distribution out of the ones above that would distribute my opening sequence would be Spelling Entertainment this is becuase its an Independant company. The reason for the opening sequence would be distributed by an Indpendant distributor becuase its a British film and the British independant companies are not as big as majors.
Theses are screenshots of the trailers from the above films to show the similarity and the differences of the films above to the opening sequence.
When a Stranger Calls
This is a screenshot which represents our opening sequence to show that it is similar because it is quite a dark atmosphere.

The BabySitter
The screenshot of the babysitter as an image of a ‘house’ the is similar to our opening sequence as it also has an image of the house which shows that something dangerous could happen in that house.

The Dark Knight
This is a screenshot of the Dark Knight and has an image of batman which is a superhero. This differs from our opening sequence because it doesn’t include a superhero in ours and its not about fighting for your life.

looking back at your preliminary Task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
The shots we used in our Preliminary Task were the 180 degree Rule, Match on Action and Shot reverse Shot. In our opening sequence we used all these elements. For example; in one of the scenes when the girl is talking to the other character, the camera is positioned behind the character, which gives the effect of showing who the who the character is looking at.
a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaMX4zT3ug5izVD_4eNxqnT2pQZkds-DK1jnrjPyIehAjShSNa7EkhPXVEn1mhAHd4XbjDQ2qfibbb-En6L-HOQn3oz2jbIJaAcKTxf9zUbXLdrohVpR4OL-Tr3w5oqVU5w0ofQFYGYOmy/s1600/shot+reverse+shot.jpg">
This is an image of a 'Shot Reverse Shot' which shows that we used this in our preliminary task. Since we used this element into our task, it made us improve as we used one of the scenes as a shot reverse shot to show which character is looking and talking to who.
We developed our skills by using the different elements we have learnt from our Preliminary task and adding it to our opening sequence.
Using these range of camera elements has shown our progression becuase since we added these elements to our opening sequence this shows our understanding of the elements and that we learnt how to use them. We also used elements such as;special effects. For most scenes we used transitions. E.G. Fade out. In one of the scenes it fades out to another scene. We also used the spiral effect holding the camera and slowing turning the camera upwards towards the full picture.
This is a screenshot of the spiral effect. At the beginning of our opening sequence we used the camera to work its way upwards following the stalker

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media Products?
The conventions of a thriller film is what we expect to see in a thriller movie. We expect to hear screaming, gun shots, people dying, and a dark atmosphere. These conventions should be present in a thriller film. In a Thriller opening sequence there must be conventions but not all the conventions should be present as it is only the opening. It should be quite dull/dark. The two thriller opening sequences I will be comparing to our opening sequence are; The Kingdom and The Shining. The sequence of The Kingdom is a cloudy and grim atmosphere and has military writing. It also has gun shots at the background. The Shining is a complete contrast. The background is bright and is very atmospheric with hills/mountains. The setting looks picturesque. The music is quite subtle and quiet but also sounds mysterious.
We have followed conventions to our opening sequence by having the background looking cloudy and grim. There are sounds of footsteps which demonstrates the idea that someone is coming becuase the emphasis is on the sound of footsteps.
This is a screenshot which shows a dark image which is similar to the thriller film ‘the Shining’ because its a dark picture which shows we have challenged conventions and followed them.

Character Profile
I will compare and contrast the characters from the opening sequence to real actors from the Thriller films.
This character is similar to Marie from the opening sequence as they are worried. This character is Jodie Foster who plays Kyle Pratt in the thriller 'Flight Plan'.
This character from the Thriller film reflects Marie becuase they are both anxious and concerned. Marie is anxious when she sees the child has gone and is dead and Jodie foster from 'Flight Plan' is also anxious when she finds her child is missing.
This character is from the thriller film 'The Strangers'reflects 'Tasha' from the opening sequence as she is a protective lady and extremely afraid. They both love their loved ones and protective over their loved one. kristian McKay is the character from The strangers is protective over her husband whereas Tasha from our opening sequence is protective over her brother.
These characters represent women as emotional and stressed becuase it shows how they are portrayed in the film, and how they react to certain situations which gives the idea of how women can be when they are in that position.
